Enrichment Activity Afternoons 

We believe children should be able to experience school and life with natural curiosity and joy. By providing additional learning and experience opportunities at St Mary’s Infants School with our enrichment programme, we hope to encourage children to be their own advocates for learning and personal growth. 

 Our school, enrichment takes place once a week on a Thursday afternoon, providing children with the opportunity to explore a wide range of experiences beyond the classroom. Our carefully planned programme is designed to nurture curiosity, inspire awe and wonder, and broaden children’s understanding of the world around them. 

Through enrichment, pupils are encouraged to discover new interests, develop practical skills, and take part in activities they may not otherwise have the chance to experience. The programme offers a diverse range of opportunities, from learning to play the violin and exploring different countries, cultures, and issues of global injustice such as looking into chocolate and the use of palm oil in our products, to participating in non-curriculum sports such as tag rugby. 

Children can also take part in exciting activities such as virtual reality experiences, ‘Mad science’ and our popular ‘St Mary’s Got Talent’ sessions, where they learn new skills including magic tricks, poetry performance, and other creative pursuits. These experiences are designed to engage, challenge, and inspire learners of all ages. 

The aim of our enrichment programme is to provide meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that help children grow in confidence, resilience, and independence. By encouraging pupils to step outside their comfort zones and discover new passions, we help them become well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills, knowledge, and experiences to thrive both in school and beyond.
